HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring phenomenon. When you are reading a book, watching a film or driving a car but you don’t remember the journey, you have been in a natural state of hypnosis. Hypnotherapy is a way of using that natural state to help you focus and to access your subconscious mind and work with it in different ways to help you achieve the results you want.

Children are in a natural state of hypnosis pretty much all the time up until the age of 7. They don’t have the life experience to filter out what is true and what is not. So many beliefs can be made and stored in the subconscious mind that as adults we might know are not right on an intellectual level but they still make us ‘feel’ a certain way and that can be a problem.

So we start with the idea that if we have a self limiting belief, something about the way we think, we feel or we behave, it is because life has already hypnotised us to do so through natural hypnosis from life’s experiences that have affected us in some way. So my job is really not to hypnotise but to de-hypnotise the person to help them return to a more natural state where they can be their true selves without the negative self limiting beliefs. I do this by using various methods of analytical therapy usually followed by suggestion therapy to help the client focus on how they want to be.

EFT (EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE)

You may wish to include EFT in your session or you may not. It’s a beautiful, gentle, highly effective therapy that incorporates tapping on meridian points and it can be used for just about anything. How it works is all the tapping points send a signal back through the nerve endings to the amygdala, which is the fire alarm part of the brain, the primal part that is designed to keep you safe. That is the part that triggers the fight or flight response. Just stimulating these nerve endings alone can begin to reduce the stress response before you add in anything else. However we also add words to help acknowledge, accept and release feelings and emotions around whatever is troubling us.

There is also the belief that anything that has been causing you disease or distress is caused by a blockage in the meridians and by tapping on these points you can unblock that and allow the energy to flow freely and so allowing emotional freedom.

Tailored Sessions:

Every session is unique for the individual client and their needs, but there are general stages I tend to follow for most sessions.

Initial Consultation:

When you come to see me we would spend some time talking about what it is you want to change in your life, what you have tried so far, and why you think it may not have worked. During this initial consultation I would be looking for self limiting beliefs and emotional hot spots. These are what we will need to work on to help you move forward.

EFT:

If you have decided you would like to incorporate EFT into your session we would do it now.

Hypnotherapy:

Using a hypnotic induction I will help you relax just so it’s easier for you to do the work. You will be able to speak to me and you will be in control at all times. I can’t make you do anything or believe anything that you don’t want to. Using analytical and solution based hypnotherapy and NLP techniques I will help you to address things you want to change or that have been keeping you stuck and support you in focusing on how you want to be and so helping your sub conscious begin to make that happen.

End of Session:

I’ll then bring you out of trance and that will be the end of your first session. For some people one or two sessions will be enough, but for others it’s possible you may need more. If so, I do a reduction for block bookings if that is something you would be interested in.

Many people say they feel ‘lighter’ after Hypnotherapy. It can certainly have a profound effect in a very short space of time.

“Everyone can be hypnotised, by life, by teachers, by politicians, by advertising. We are all open to the phenomenon, it is occurring every day. The misconception is that it is something special. It isn’t. But when you know what to do with it you can make something special – and often miracles happen.” –Andrew Parr
